This tree has a slender erect trunk with white bark and ascending main branches with drooping branchlets that form a rounded crown. It is green lanced-shaped leaves and the small creamy white flowers appear in clusters from winter to spring.

Eucalyptus elatais naturally found in Australia from south-eastern Victoria to the central tablelands of New South Wales where the better forms appear along watercourses in a variety of soil types.

It prefers a well drained clay to sandy loam that is moist to periodically wet and grows in an open sunny to semi shaded position and is frost, snow, drought and neglect tolerant.

River Peppermint is grown for its weeping habit and is planted in large gardens or parks as a shade tree and in farmland for river bank binding. It establishes in 3 to 5 years and is suitable for inland regions. The tree is also used as a wind break or planted to dry out damp areas.
