This variable small to medium size tree can be stunted with an irregular habit or erect with a straight trunk that forms a conical crown. It has silvery-blue lanced-shaped leaves and the creamy white flowers appear in a cluster during spring.

The Argyle Apple is a vigorous long lived tree that is grown for its foliage. It is planted in parks and gardens as a shade tree or use a long borders as a wind break or for foliage contrast. It establishes in 3 to 4 years and is suitable for inland regions. The foliage is also cut for floral arrangements and the plant tolerates salt laden winds, pollution and moderately alkaline soils. Note:
The bark is fibrous reddish-brown and extends to the small branches where it becomes ribbony. The crown is dense and the branchlets tend to droop.
