This large tree has a prominently buttressed greyish trunk with spreading branches aerial roots and it form a broad rounded crown. It has large leathery dark glossy green oval leaves and produces figs during early summer.

is naturally found in Australiaon growing the central east coast from southern Queensland to New South Wales in warm temperate to sub-tropical rainforests.

It prefers well drained alluvial soils and grows in a sunny semi protected position and is frost and drought tender.

The Moreton Bay Fig is a large majestic tree that is planted in parks and large gardens as a lawn specimen for shade. It is suitable for coastal positions tolerating salt spray and establishes in 3 to 5 years. It is also planted in rainforest settings but is not suitable for urban gardens as it is to large. This tree is bird and bat attracting and may be used as a bonsai specimen. It is moderately deer resistant. ID 445
