This attractive tropical tree has a light brown trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has long divided drooping leaves with oblong leaflets and the orange-red tube-shaped flowers are arranged in a pendant cluster during spring.

The Rose of Venezuela is grown for its flowers and its drooping foliage. It is planted in parks and gardens along shaded borders or as an understorey in a rainforest setting.
