This deciduous shrub has multiple stems from the base with spreading cane like branches that form a vase habit. The leaves are dark green or variegated and the showy funnel-shaped pink to crimson flowers appear in a cluster from late spring or early summer.

It is suitable for low-mountain and coastal regions, establishing in 3-5 years and is long lived. This shrub has excellent spring colour and foliage contrast during summer.
