This shrub to small tree has an upright open multi-branched habit that forms a rounded crown. It has large dark green elliptical leaves and the white, pink or red saucer-shaped very large semi-double or double flowers appear during spring.

It prefers a well drained sandy to clay soil that is moist and rich with a pH.5-6.5 and grows in a semi shade to sunny position with no morning sun and is drought and frost tender.
The Net Vein Camellia is grown for its flowers and upright habit. It is planted in small gardens or parks along borders for screening or can be espaliered against a wall.
