This herbaceous bulbous perennial has a tufted growth habit with dark green strap-like leaves that appear during winter and the trumpet-like pink flowers appear in a cluster on a leafless scape during late summer.

It is suitable for coastal or low-mountain regions establishing in 2-4 years from division and is moderately long lived. It is also grown in patio pots or planter boxes for its fragrant flowers that may be cut and used in floral arrangements. In large gardens it is mass planted along borders for a floral display.
