Salix babylonica is naturally found from China to east Asia growing along water courses in well drained fertile organic rich moist soils in an open sunny position and is frost tollerant but drought tender.
The Willow Tree is grown for its spreading pendant crown and is planted in large gardens or parks around ponds or used for riverbank binding. It establishes in 2-4 years and is long lived. This tree is also grown as a lawn specimen for shade and for its autumn foliage colour. ID 355
Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
