This deciduous tree has single or double dark trunks with well-spaced branches that forms a rounded symmetrical crown. It has mid-green divided leaves that turn orange-crimson during autumn and the white flowers appear in a cluster during spring.

Pistacia chinensis is naturally found from central to western China growing in drier forests in well drained moderately fertile soil in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.
The Chinese Pistachio is grown for its habit and autumn foliage colour. It is planted in parks and gardens as a shade tree or used in street plantings. It establishes in 2 to 4 years and is suitable for cool mountain regions with reliable moisture. It is also planted along garden borders for screening or used in avenue plantings. ID 350
