Luculia gratissimais naturally found in the lower Himalayas. It may be difficult to grow requiring a protected shaded position with slightly acid soil that is well drained but with ample moisture during summer. It prefers a semi shade protected position and is drought and frost tender.

Luculia is grown for its flowers and rounded bushy habit. It is used as an understorey shrub in mild climates or grown in fragrant and moist gardens. It is suitable for low-mountain regions and establishes in 3 to 5 years. It is also grown for its attractive foliage but the plant must be left undisturbed and water should be reduced during the cooler months.ID 348
