This deciduous tree has a short trunk with irregular branching that forms a rounded crown. It has dark green divided leaves that turn yellow-orange during autumn and the golden yellow saucer-shaped flowers appear in clusters during late spring.

The Golden Rain Tree is grown for its mass of yellow flowers and spreading crown. It is planted in parks and gardens as a lawn specimen for summer shade. It is suitable for inland regions and establishes in 3-5 years and is long lived. It is also grown in botanical collections or along avenues. ID 345

The bark appears tessellated at first becoming furrowed at maturity and the timber tends to be weak.
