This deciduous tree has a large armed trunk with spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has dark green oblong leaflets that are briefly deciduous and the star-shaped pink flowers appear in a cluster during autumn.

Chorisia insignisit is naturally found in South American growing in rainforests under moist humid conditions with an average temperature of 23.8ºC(75ºF).
It prefers humus rich well drained moist soil but once established will tolerate most soil types and grows in a open sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.
The White Floss Silk Tree is grown for its flowers and spreading growth habit. It is planted in parks and large gardens as a lawn specimen for shade or used in tropical settings. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and is long lived forming a large tree. The autumn flowers add colour to a tropical garden and the thickish trunk has interesting bark. ID 337

The bark is fissured and wrinkled with greenish vertical stipes and has scattered conical shape thorns that disappear with age.
