This rhizomatous perennial has upright cane-like stems that form a small clump. The ovate glossy green leaves have wavy margins and the white, pink and orange bell-shaped flowers appear in a pendent cluster above the foliage from spring to autumn.

The Angel Winged Begonia is grown for its flowers and its clumping habit. It is planted in tropical gardens or courtyards as a specimen and used in patio pots and planter boxes for a tropical effect. It is also used as an understorey along borders and establishes in 1 to 2 years. It is suitable for small or large gardens on the coast and inland requiring little care once established.
