Mimosa pudica
is naturally found in north and south tropical America growing in well-drained organic rich moist soils but will tolerate drier conditions with poorer soils. It prefers a open sunny position and is drought tolerant but frost tender.

Sensitive mimosa is grown for its foliage and quick growth. It is planted in small gardens as a quick-filler along borders or used as a ground cover. It establishes in one season and is suitable for coastal or inland regions but is short lived. It is also grown as a curiosity plant as the leaves react to touch and the flowers may be cut for floral arrangements. ID 283
