This herbaceous perennial has erect cane like stems that form a bushy clump habit. It has mid green linear leaves and the white, pink to purple trumpet-shaped perfumed flowers have recurved petals and appear in a cluster from early summer to mid-autumn.

The Taiwan Lily is grown for its flowers and clumping habit. It is planted in perennial borders in small or cottage gardens or used in drifts in large gardens. It is also grown in containers establishing in 1 to 2 years from division and the flowers are used in floral arrangements.
