This coniferous shrub has upright spreading reddish-brown branches with weeping tips and form an irregular rounded habit. It has scale-like mid to dark green leaves that densely cover the plant and the female cones appear during late spring.

The Pfitzer Juniper is grown for its foliage and its ascending habit. It is planted along mixed shrub borders for screening or trim to form a hedge. It is also used in formal conifer gardens establishing in 3 to 5 years and can be grown in containers or planter boxes. It is an excellent topiary specimen and is hardy and long-lived.
