This attractive coniferous tree has red-brown bark and ascending branches that are pendulous when young and forms a narrow conical habit. It has glaucous green scale-like leaves and the female flowers produce cones during spring.

Cupressus cashmeriana is naturally found in Bhutan where it was recently rediscovered growing in a moist warm environment preferring the mountain areas of the wet tropics. It grows in deep well-drained moist organic rich soils in an open sunny position and is drought and frost tender.

The Kashmir Cypress is grown for its weeping habit and foliage. It is planted in large gardens or parks as a specimen tree or for foliage contrast. It is suitable for low-mountain regions and establishes in 3-5 years and is long-lived. This tree may be difficult to cultivate as it dies back in hot dry conditions requiring ample moisture and humidity.ID 207
