This short lived perennial is commonly grown as an annual and has erect branched stems that form a rounded bushy habit. It has dark green lance-shaped leaves and the yellow, orange or white trumpet-shaped flowers appear in a raceme during spring.

Erysimum cheiri is naturally found in the Mediterranean region and Britain growing on cliffs and rocky places on the coast. It prefers a well drained, fertile moist to dry sandy to clay soil in an open sunny position and is salt spray tolerant but frost and drought tender.

Wallflowers are grown for their flowers and bushy habit. It is planted along garden borders for colour or cut for floral arrangements. It is suitable for coastal or inland regions and establish in one season but is short lived. It is also used in bedding displays in large gardens or parks and can be grown in patio pots or planter boxes. ID 189

Note:
Cut flowers should be given regular water changes and under cultivation avoid allowing the plant is set seed early as this will reduce the flowering period.
