Calendula officinalis is naturally found in southern Europe commonly growing as a garden escape plant and appearing on disturbed soil along roadways. It grows in well drained poor to moderately fertile moist light sandy to clay soils in an open sunny position and is frost tolerant but drought tender.
Pot Marigold is grown for its flowers and is commonly used in bedding displays or grown in patio pots and planter boxes. It is also planted in cottage gardens or used as a herb in cooking and as a green manure crop. The flowers are cut for floral arrangements and it establishes in one season. ID 188
