This annual forms a dense upright rounded habit with many branchlets. The oval leaves are dark green and the flowers are white to blue appearing in terminal fluffy heads appearing from early spring to autumn.

Ageratum houstonianum is naturally found from Central and South America to the West Indies growing in woodlands. It prefers a well drained moderately fertile moist to dry light soil with a pH range from 5.5 to 7.5 and grows in an open sunny position and is light frost and drought tolerant.
