Pyrostegia venusta is naturally found in South America from Brazil to Paraguay and Bolivia growing in rocky places in scrubland and forest margins.
It prefers a well drained moderately fertile moist organic rich soil with a pH range from 5.5 to 6.5 and grows in a sunny to semi shaded open position and is frost and drought tender.
The Orange Trumpet Vine is grown for its pendant orange flowers and climbing habit. It is grown over pergolas for summer shade or along wire fences and can grow into trees. It establishes in 2 to 3 years and may become rampant. This climber is suitable for small gardens and adds a tropical effect. It is also planted in pots and tubs or is used as a spill-over above retaining walls. Under ideal conditions it can spread quickly and in some regions it is regarded as a weed.ID 136
