Pyracantha angustifolia is naturally found in south-west China growing in woodlands on the coast and in the lower mountains. It grows in most well drained fertile moist sandy to light clay soils in an open sunny position and is frost and drought resistant.
The Narrow Leafed Firethorn is grown for its colourful berries and dense rounded crown. It is planted along borders for screening in small or large gardens or used as a specimen tolerating neglect. It can also be trimmed to form a hedge or espaliered against a wall. It is suitable for inland and coastal regions establishing in 3 to 5 years tolerating a wide range of climatic zones. Under ideal conditions the plant can become weedy.
Note:
Keep it well pruned near pathways as the plant is armed with large thorns.
