This hardy shrub has a short stem with many branches that form a compact rounded habit. It has glossy green lance-shaped leaves and the small violet to white funnel-shaped flowers appear in clusters from spring to summer.

It prefers a well drained poor to moderately fertile moist sandy soils that are tending neutral with a pH range from 7.0 to 8.5 and grows in an open to exposed sunny position and is frost, drought and salt tolerant.

The Dwarf Hebe is grown for its compact rounded habit and its flowers. It is planted in small gardens along borders or used in rockeries and may be trimmed to form a low hedge.
