This is a pendulous weeping fern has a tufted stout rhizome with dull brown scales and with black stems and forms a clump. It has dark green thin texture divided fronds and produce plantlets towards the tips.

Asplenium bulbiferum is naturally found in Australia from Queensland to New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania growing as an epiphite in protected moist gullies on rocks, trees and in soft tree-ferns trunks.
It is also terrestrial preferring well-drained organic rich moist soil in a semi shaded position with wind, frost and drought protection.
Mother Spleenwort is grown for its attractive foliage and is widely cultivated as a container plant in a fernery or used in hanging baskets. It is also grown as an indoor plant with ample light or used as an understorey or for border planting in damp shaded rockeries.
