This upright shrub has woody stems that form a vase to rounded habit that spreads with age. It has dark green oblong leaves and the small white saucer-shaped flowers appear in a cluster during early summer and are followed by orange berries.

Pyracantha crenatoserrata is naturally found from central to western China growing in thickets along water courses or roadsides at an altitude from 500 m (1,640 ft) to 2,800 m (9,186 ft).

It prefers a moderately fertile moist but well drained light sandy to clay soil in an open sunny position and is frost and drought resistant.

This Pyracantha is grown for its dense bushy habit and colourful fruit. It is planted along garden borders in parks and gardens for screening and can be trimmed to form a hedge. It is suitable for coastal and inland regions establishing in 3-5 years and is moderately long lived. This plant may also be espaliered against a wall and is used for winter colour. ID 35
