Lantana camarais naturally found from central and southern America growing in the understory of forests commonly along river banks.

It prefers a well drained organic rich moist sandy to caly loam that is tending acidic and grows in a protected semi shaded to sunny position and is drought and frost tolerant.

Lantana is grown for its vigorous bushy habit and is used for hedging or as a filler plant in coastal garden. It is also used as a spill-over above retaining walls or on embankments. It is suitable for coastal regions and establishes in 1 to 2 years but the species is not normally planted as it is weedy. The sterile cultivars are cultivated in small gardens or commercial sites and are easy controlled. ID 19
