This variable shrub as sharply angular branches that form a prostrate to mounded habit with foliage that has flatten entire margins (not recurved) and creamy white flowers that are arranged in a conflorescence that is up to 20 mm (µ in) long.
subsp. pachyphylla
This variable shrub as sharply angular branches that form a erect bushy habit to 1 m (3 ft) with foliage that has strongly recurved margins and creamy yellow flowers that are arranged in a conflorescence that is up to 60 mm (2? in) long. It grows in a sunny position in heath along the coast preferring a hot dry summer in a cool wet winter.
There are two forms that are recognized, the Typical form which is on a erect shrub that has recurved leaf margins and produces a conflorescence up to 40 mm (1? in) long above the foliage.
The Minyolo form is commonly lignotuberous and has deeply divided leaves with lobes up to 3 mm (? in) wide and produces a branch conflorescence that is up to 60 mm (2? in) long and appears above the foliage.
Cultivar
'Picasso'
This spreading shrub as a lignotuber and grows to 1.2 m () tall by 1.5 m wide () and has flat leathery dark green leaves that are divided into 3-lobes. From late winter until mid spring it produces fragrant creamy yellow fragrant flowers in a terminal raceme. It prefers an open sunny semi-shade position and grows in well drained poor to moderately fertile sandy stony soil. It has a low water requirement once established. (Scale: 1-drop from 3)
