subsp. karasbergensis
This perennial succulent is similar to the species and occurs in the Northern Cape province at higher altitudes from Prieska to southern Namibia from 1200 m to 4000 m (3,900 ft to 13,123 ft). This plant is not commonly cultivated in home gardens and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.

subsp. komaggasensis
This perennial succulent is similar to the species and has a restricted distribution growing in the mountains in Namaqualand at an altitude from 500 m to 700 m (1,640 ft to 2,300 ft). This plant is not commonly cultivated in domestic gardens and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.
