var. punctata
This tree is endemic to central New South Wales and grows from the coast to the western side of the Blue Mountains. It normally has buds with a conical operculum and the capsules are cylindrical or occasionally hemispherical with a flat disc and short thick valves.
var. didyma
This tree is endemic to New South Wales from Dungog and extends to Nanango in South-east Queensland. It has identified a buyer is retention of the angular and wrinkled operculum in the late development of the bud and the capsules are obconical to hemispherical with short valves.
var.longirostrata
This tree is endemic to Queensland and grows from Toowoomba north to Maryborough and north-west to the Consuelo Tablelands. It is distinguished by reddish twigs and leaf midribs and the pointed or beaked operculum is longer than the hypanthium. The capsule is hemispherical with a narrow disk and has deltoid valves.
