Sub-species
subsp. longior
This subspecies occurs on the eastern coast of Victoria and the south-east corner of New South Wales and it is similar to the species. It grows in a heavy to medium clay or sandy loam in an open sunny position from an altitude of 100 m (328 ft) to 800 m (2,624 ft). It is tolerant of light to medium frosts and is suitable coastal positions.
subsp. vestita
This subspecies occurs in inland New South Wales and Victoria at an altitude from 120 m (394 ft) to 800 m (2,624 ft). It grows in heavy to medium clay loam or a sandy loam that is sensitive to the saline soils. It is moderately drought and heavy frost tolerant.
