Cultivar
'Compacta'
This vigorous shrub grows to 1m (3 ft) tall and wide forming a compact habit with dark green holly-like leaves that are tinged reddish when young. During spring it produces dark orange to yellow flowers that may reappear in autumn and a followed by blue black berries.

It tolerates most soil types including chalky and clay loams and is pH adaptable. The prefers an open sunny to partially shaded, protected to exposed position and is frost and drought tolerant. It is planted in parks and gardens along borders and trim to form a hedge or used on embankments requiring little care once established. It grows in USDA zones 7-9

'Nana'
This dwarf shrub grows to 1.25 m (4 ft) tall by 800 mm (44 in) wide and with arching branches that are covered in small dark green spiny leaves. From mid to late spring it produces clusters of pendant deep orange cup shaped flowers that a followed by blackish berries.

It prefers an open sunny position and grows in moist fertile soils and is used as a low border and grows in USDA zones 7-9
