Cultivars
'Ascona'
This deciduous shrub grows to 5 m (15ft) tall by 6 m (20ft) wide, forming a spreading habit with ovate mid-green leaves to 220 mm (8?) long that turn orange-red or purplish during autumn. During late spring it produces green flowers in an inflorescence to 20 mm (µ in) wide, and is surrounded by 4-ovate white bracts that are up to 80 mm (3? in) long.
It prefers an open sunny to partially shaded, wind protected position and grows in most well drained humus rich, fertile soils that are neutral tending to acid. This shrub gives an excellent display and is suited as a lawn specimen or as a feature plant along borders.

Cornus nuttalliix Cornus florida
