This tree has upright trunk with ascending branches that form a fastigiate habit up to 20 m (60 ft) tall with bluish green oblong lobed leaves. It is planted along avenues or as a specimen in botanical collections preferring an open sunny position with deep well-drained moist soils that are tending acidic. It grows in USDA zones 5-9.

This large deciduous tree grows to 30 m (100 ft) tall by 20 m (60 ft) wide with a thick greyish trunk and spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has glossy dark green ovate leaves that are lobed and reddish when young and produces yellowish-green catkins followed by acorns. This majestic tree is planted in parks or woodland settings preferring an open sunny position and a deep moist fertile soil in USDA zones 5-9.

'Muscoviensis'
This smaller tree grows to 15 m (45 ft) tall by 6 m (20 ft) wide with a short trunk and upright spreading branches that form a rounded crown. It has dark green obovate lobed leaves and produces tassel-like yellowish green male catkins during spring.

This tree is planted in parks and gardens along borders or as a lawn specimen and is used for summer shade. It prefers an open sunny position and grows on most well-drained fertile moist soils in USDA zones 5-9.
