Cultivars
'Alba'
This semi evergreen shrub has a dark green elliptical to lanceolate leaves up to 100 mm (4 in) long and forms an upright bushy to 4 m (12 ft) tall by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide. It produces terminal clusters that consist of 7-15 pure white flowers during winter and are followed by black berries. It prefers a protected sunny to semi-shaded position and grows in humus rich moist well-drained soils that are alkaline tending slightly acid.

'Darjeeling'
This semi-and evergreen shrub has dark green elliptical leaves and forms an upright bushy habit from 2-4 m (12 ft) by a 1.5 m (5 ft) wide. It produces large clusters of 7-15 pink buds that open to fragrant very pale pink to white flowers during winter. It prefers a protected sunny to semi-shaded position and grows in humus rich moist well-drained soils that are alkaline tending slightly acid.

'Ghurka'
This deciduous alpine shrub has an upright bushy habit to 2 m (6 ft) tall by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide with bright tan bark and grows at altitudes of 3200 m (10,000 ft). It produces purplish-mauve buds that open to pale pink fragrant flowers during late winter and is a very tolerant of cold conditions. It prefers an open sunny to semi-shaded protected position and grows in organic rich moist but well-drained soils that are tending acidic.

'Jacqueline Poatill'
This evergreen medium-size shrub has an upright bushy habit to 1.5 m (5 ft) tall by 1 m (3 ft) wide with glossy dark green foliage. It produces intensely fragrant purplish-pink flowers that are white on the inside and are up to 20 mm wide and are arranged in a terminal cluster that appears during winter. This shrub prefers the well-drained loamy soil and tolerates moisture retaining chalky soils.

'Sir Peter Smithers'
This semi evergreen shrub grows to 2 m tall (6 ft) by 1.5 m (5 ft) wide and produces dark purplish red buds that open to fragrant pink flowers during winter.
