Sub-species
subsp. glandulosa
This subspecies has a low spreading habit and grows to 800 mm (31½ in) tall by 3 m (9 ft) wide. It has blue to grey-green pubescent leaves and produces green tubulate flowers during autumn or in early spring.

It is naturally now south-west Western Australia growing in the Avon wheatbelt and mallee country in gravelly-sandy to clay soil and is commonly found along disturbed road verges. It grows in USDA zones 9-10.

subsp. lanata
This pubescent subspecies has a low spreading to rounded habit and grows to 600 mm (2 ft)tall by 1 m (3 ft) wide. It has mid green to blue-green leaves that are densely white woolly along the margins and underside and are arranged spirally. It produces green tubulate flowers from winter to early summer.

It is naturally found in south-west Western Australia growing inland on undulating plains and around salt lake margins near Kalgoolie It prefers the open sunny position and grows in poor sandy to clay soil that is acidic to alkaline. It grows in USDA zones 9-10.
