'Chat'
This small potato is also known as baby coliban or baby potato and has a creamy white skin and whitish flesh. It is commonly boil and used in salads.

'Desiree'
The Desiree potato as a smooth thin red skin with a light yellow flesh that has a creamy taste and is ideal for mashed potato, potato wedges and boiled potatoes. It was originally bred in the Netherlands in 1962 and is resistant to drought. It is commonly available in North America and Australia or the UK.

'Russet'
This large commonly grown potato is a brown skin with white flesh. A potato refers to be roughly textured brown tuberous varieties and in North America and Canada it is known as the cultivar 'Burbank Russet' which is known for its consistent flavour and a long shelf life. It is commonly used in fast food outlets for making chips (French fries) as it produces a darker colour. It is also commonly used for making mashed potato and baking and has a high percentage of carbohydrates, vitamin C and iron. Uncle potatoes should not be stored in a refrigerator as this will change the starch to sugar altering the taste when cooked. Under cultivation it is resistant to scab.

'Kapler'
This medium-sized potato as a thin reddish brown skin and creamy yellow flesh.

'Pontiac'
The Pontiac potato is a hybrid variety that was derived from 'Triumph' and 'Katahdin' in 1938 in the USA and in 1940 in Australia. This large rounded potato has a thin dark red skin, deep eyes and a crisp white flesh and is commonly used for culinary purposes.

Sebago
This perennial is the most commonly grown variety for domestic gardens and producing large edible tubers that have a white skin and creamy yellow flesh.
