This perennial forms a low rounded habit with densely packed rosettes of mid-green leaves. During winter the leaves turn pinkish-red and the flowers appear in a terminal panicle during early summer.

This small clump forming perennial forms rosettes of broad obovate fleshy mid-green leaves that secrete line along the margins. It is grown in rockeries or used as a container plant tolerating cold conditions.
