It prefers an open sunny position and grows in most well-drained moderately fertile sandy, acidic to alkaline soils. It is very drought and mildly frost tolerant and is commonly grown as a specimen or use for hedging. The long-lasting flowers are also ideal for floral arrangements. It grows in USDA zones 9-10
