This shrub is simular to the species but produces leaves that have a coppery purplish colour particularly during winter. It is planted in shrub borders for colour contrast.
'Variegata'
This shrub is simular to the species and produces dark green leaves that are yellow-green to creamy-green in the centre. The leaves tend to revert to green easily and as a result it is not commonly cultivated.
