The bright yellow flowers are up to 12mm (˝in) wide appearing in small panicles or solitary during spring. It produces abundant red fruit to 7mm (Ľin) wide. It is planted in parks and gardens as a specimen or trimmed to form a hedge tolerating a dry windy position.
