Cultivars

'Balearica'
This vigorous clone of a hybrid is an erect medium size tree that forms a conical to spreading habit. It has broad ovate deep green leaves with a leathery texture and the margins can be entire or spiny. It has glossy deep red berries and the plant is used in shrub borders.

'Belgica'
This vigorous tree has ascending branches that form a conical habit and has elliptical-lanceolate dark glossy green leaves that may have spines. The large berries are orange-red and appear profusely over the plant.

'Hendersonii'
This vigorous compact large shrub forms a rounded habit with dull dark green ovate to obovate leaves with a few spines towards the apex and produce brown-red berries. It is planted in shrub borders for screening or as a lawn specimen.

'Jermyns'
This strong growing shrub to small tree is upright with spreading branches that form a rounded habit. It has glossy green oval leaves that are normally spineless and the plant is commonly used in hedging. There is also a female variegated form of this plant that has red berries and leaves that are blotched yellow in the centre.

'Moorei'
This vigorous male shrub is upright and forms a conical habit when young. It has dark glossy green leaves that have spiny margins and the plant is grown as a lawn specimen.

'Post Office'
This small tree is upright forming a narrow domed habit. It has glossy dark green elliptical leaves with entire margins and produces small scarlet berries. It is ideal for a tall hedge or for screening in shrub borders.
