Cultivars
'Nana'
This dwarf perennial succulent grows to 300mm (1 ft) tall and has several names including 'Blue Form'. It has light blue green to reddish needle-like (linear) leaves that are up to 200mm (7µ in) long and are arranged in a dense rosette. It grows in an open sunny to semi shaded position and prefers a well drained moderately fertile soil. It is drought, heat and cold tolerant and is commonly grown as a potted specimen.
'Rubra'
This smaller perennial succulent has a short thick branched stem and forms a clump. It has arching reddish-green thick linear leaves that turn bright red during drought and the flower spike appears on 8-10 plants during midsummer. It is ideal as a potted specimen and is used for colour contrast.
