Beautiful ElkhornThis epiphytic or terrestrial fern has a creeping rhizome that forms a clump with erect to semi-pendent thin leathery light green fronds, up to 600 mm (2 ft) long and expand out at the apex forming a full frilled crest.
It prefers a shade to filtered light wind protected humid position and grows in well-drained organic rich moist soils that are tending acidic. It can also be grown as an epiphyte on old tree fern trunks, hanging baskets and in the forks of trees in tropical regions. It is slightly frost tolerant but drought tender and grows in USDA zones 10-12.
