Cultivar
'Nigrescens', 'Arabicus'
Both of these cultivars have simular characteristics with purple-black foliage and producing pink flowers on a blackish scape during spring.
The fruit is blue-green and the plant is commonly used for edging or is grown in patio pots. It is also planted between pavers and use of colour contrast in a rockery.
It prefers an open sunny position and grows on most well-drained moderately fertile moist soils. Once established it has a medium water requirement. (Scale: 2-drops from 3)
