This plant is regarded as the Lima bean and is divided into three cultural groups. White seeds are the most common but there are also black, red, orange and mottled seeds available.
1) Sieva
These plants are characterised by small-size flat seeds and is found from Mexico to Argentina growing from sea level to an altitude of 1,600 m (5,249 ft).

3)Big Lima
These plants are characterised by very large flat shaped seeds are found in areas north of Peru at an altitude from 350 m (1,148 ft) to 2,000 m (6561 ft).
var. silvester
This plant is regarded as the wild ancestral form and is not commonly cultivated commercially.
