Cultivar
'Purpurea'
This plant has purplish leaves and is a cross between Cordyline banksiiand Cordyline australis, but produces a weak plant that is normally short lived. It has a low water requirement once established.

'Purple Sensation'
This clump forming shrub has slender stems up to 2m (6ft) tall and topped with strap-like leaves that are deep purple with pinkish mid-ribs. It is planted in tropical or formal gardens for foliage contrast and is suitable for patio pots or around swimming pools.

It tolerates most well drained moist or dry soils preferring an open sunny to semi-shaded position. It is drought tolerant but frost tender and has a low water requirement once established (Scale: 1-drop from 3) responding to mulch and an occasional deep watering during dry periods.

'Red Fountain'
This dwarf shrub to 1m (3ft) tall is clump forming with arching burgundy-red strap-like foliage that forms a ball-shaped habit. The fragrant small star-shaped pail pink flowers appear in sprays from late spring to summer.

It is grown in patio pots or in garden beds for colour contrast tolerating most well drained soils in an open to protected full sun position. It is drought tolerant but requires protection from heavy frosts. It has a low water requirement once established (Scale: 1-drop from 3), responding to mulch and an occasional deep watering during dry periods.
