Cultivars
'Birotii'
This hybrid tree has upright to 12m (40ft) with spreading branches with larger glossy green leaves with 5-7 leaflets and forms a compact rounded crown. During spring it produces dark red flowers in erect terminal panicles up to 255 mm (10 in) long attracting bees and humming birds.

During autumn leaves turn a brownish colour before falling and only small quantities of fruit produced making it ideal street planting or as a lawn specimen.

'Plantierensis'
This deciduous tree produces pale pink flowers and the fruit will not mature.
