'Plena' Bechtel's Crab Apple
This deciduous tree forms a short trunk with spreading branches that form a broad domed crown. It has oblong-ovate leaves that have three to four lobes on each side and are up to 100 mm (4 in) long by 60 mm (2? in) wide. They are glossy green on the upper surface and pale green beneath turning yellow-orange or crimson during autumn.

The pale pink buds open to form a double pale pink flower that turn to white towards the centre, appearing from mid to late spring. The tree is moderately vigorous and is long lived preferring well drained, organic rich moist soils in a sunny wind protected position. It is planted in gardens as a shade tree or used along borders for summer screening.

'Prariefire'
This deciduous tree is similar to the species with attractive glossy bark and produces single red-purple flowers.
