There are two species that are very simular.
Pachystegia minoris a hardy plant that produces smaller glossy green leaves with no white margin. It is simular in growth habit and is an excellent small rockery plant.
Pachystegia rufathis plant differs in having felt-like rusty brown tomentum covering the flower stems, buds and the leaf undersides. The leaf is slightly grey green and the plant is grown in exposed rockeries.
