var. giraldii 'Profusion'
This upright bushy deciduous shrub grows to 3 m (10 ft) tall by 2.5 m (8 ft) wide and has elliptical, dark green leaves of 280 mm (11 in) long in turn reddish during autumn.
It produces small tubular pink flowers in axillary cyme during mid summer and is followed by persistent violent coloured fruit. The cultivar 'Profusion'is a similar, but the new growth is bronze-green and the pale pink flowers are followed by dark violet fruit that appear in groups of 30 to 40.
